I was exploring some Javascript libraries like crypto-js which could allow encrypting the files. So, we should be good to download the file and encrypt the file using crypto-js. Then when user selects the file, it can be decrypted again using Crypto-js and launched in the native app. However, the challenge that I have not been able to figure out is that how to save the edited document in encrypted format. When the file is opened in native app, user can edit the file but when he tries to save it, how can we encrypt it back as it is not under the control of Ionic anymore.
